The Moose Lodge is a family owned and operated cabin that we built for our family, but decided to open the doors to you.
What started out as a search for a shop to start a candy store, turned into a family project we’ll never forget.
The large boulder in the front yard was what caught our eye, we purchased the land, cleared it, dug the footing, laid the blocks ourselves, then we hired two contractors to dry it in. They worked during the day and we stayed there at night to watch over the lumber. “Now that was fun” we cooked out over an open fire, played cards (no T.V.) hiked, and talked to each other. It was great!
Our goal was to make our cabin rustic but cozy and relaxing. Also to avoid using building materials anyone could find on the shelf at the mega builders mart.
The bead board used in the dining and living room came from an old farm house (estimated to be 70 + years old), Hickory hardwood floors sawn and kiln dried locally.
The sleeping loft is aromatic red cedar that we acquired from a neighbor.
The staircase is my personal favorite. My wife and boys had a contest to see who could best “debark” the logs used for the handrails. Mattie and I went into the woods and found oddly shaped branches to use as the spindles.
My wife’s great grandmother made the quilt hanging in the living room. Some of the light fixtures came from an old school. And the list goes on.
We use the cabin ourselves regularly, and want it to be as special for you to spend some Quality Time, Unwind, and just Relax.
We personally greet our guests.
We look forward to your visit, just give us a call.
Sincerely,
The Poe Family
P.S.
We want to say thanks to everyone who helped make our dream of owning a cabin in the mountains a reality. Thank You!
